About Us - Tommy - 07-05-2026 At Catholics Forum, our mission is to spread the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ and Apostolic teachings of the Catholic Church.  This discussion board is by Catholics, for Catholics, and we welcome our Orthodox brethren and those others separated from the Church. Individual forum participants are encouraged and expected to first and foremost give themselves generously to the work of evangelization. This discussion board is dedicated to providing a platform where individuals from all walks of life can come together to explore the scriptures, doctrines, traditions, engage in meaningful discussions, and grow in faith. Whether you are a seasoned believer or someone who is just beginning to explore the Christian faith, we are here to support and guide you on your spiritual journey. We believe that the Bible is truly the word of God because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. God is the author of Sacred Scripture: the divinely revealed realities in Scripture were written down under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Church holds that the books of the Old and New Testaments are sacred and canonical because they were written under inspiration and have God as their author. The Sacred Scriptures contain the Word of God and, because they are inspired, they are truly the Word of God. The inspiration is real but not "mechanical": God acted in them and by them, so that the human authors still wrote as true authors of everything and only those things which He wanted. Sacred Scripture teaches solidly, faithfully and without error the truth God intended for our salvation. So the proper Catholic statement is: the Bible is God’s Word in Scripture because it is inspired, but it is received and interpreted within the Church's living Tradition. Studying the Bible as interpreted by the Church, its teachings, we can deepen our understanding of His love, grace, and purpose for our lives. At the same time, Catholics emphasize that Scripture is not read in isolation: There is a close connection and communication between Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture; together they are received and revered with the same loyalty and reverence. Scripture must be interpreted rightly: because God speaks through men in human fashion, interpreters must carefully consider the meaning intended by the sacred writers, literary forms, and the living tradition of the whole Church, and the final judgment belongs to the Church. In the Church’s life, the Word of God in Scripture is central, especially in the liturgy, preaching, and instruction.
